I've always believed the most meaningful gifts tell a story.

The story of kimPrints Designs didn't begin with me.

It began with my mom.

My Mother's Legacy

She was an artist, entrepreneur, retailer, and maker long before those titles became fashionable. Growing up, first in Riverdale, New York, and later in Naples, Florida, I watched her build successful gift stores where creativity wasn't simply sold—it was lived every single day.

There wasn't a craft she couldn't master. She painted, sewed, needlepointed, personalized gifts, and somehow found a way to turn ordinary materials into treasured keepsakes. Long before personalized needlepoint gifts became as beloved as they are today, she was hand-painting "Shh... Baby's Sleeping" pillows and door hangings—pieces that would later become a beloved staple in the needlepoint world. Watching her work taught me that the most meaningful gifts aren't simply beautiful—they become part of a family's story.

She believed every gift should celebrate a special moment, whether it welcomed a new baby, marked a milestone, or simply let someone know they were loved. That philosophy has stayed with me throughout my life and continues to inspire everything I create today.

Her creativity shaped mine. Her entrepreneurial spirit inspired my own. And her legacy is one I still strive to honor every day.

A Career, and a Return to Creativity

After beginning my own career on Wall Street, I eventually found my way back to the creative world and launched my first business in 1998. What began with handcrafted favors grew into a nationally recognized stationery and gift design company. Over the next two decades, I created thousands of original designs that became part of birthdays, weddings, baby showers, holidays, and celebrations for families across the country—including, in a brush with fame long before social media, baby shower invitations for Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, and Sarah Jessica Parker's twin girls. Along the way, I was featured in magazines and on TV for women entrepreneurs, all while balancing motherhood and everything else that comes at you in a thing called life.

My creative journey continued in new ways through Shorelines Illustrated, where I've had the privilege of sharing the beauty, traditions, and destinations that make coastal New England so special. Through New England Coastal Creative, I've been fortunate to connect with extraordinary artists, makers, entrepreneurs, and creative women—people whose talent, generosity, and passion continue to inspire me every day.

Rediscovering Needlepoint

Then something unexpected happened.

I rediscovered the joy of needlepoint.

What began as a creative escape quickly became a passion. I fell in love with the quiet rhythm of stitching, the artistry of every canvas, and the incredible community that surrounds this timeless craft.

As I stitched, I found myself looking back through the thousands of original designs I had created over the years.

I realized they weren't finished.

They were waiting for their next chapter.

The artwork that had once celebrated life's milestones on paper deserved to come alive again on canvas—stitched by hand, displayed with pride, gifted with love, and passed from one generation to the next.

More than anything, it felt like coming home.

Coming back to needlepoint wasn't about following a trend. It was about returning to the creative roots I grew up with—the same appreciation for craftsmanship, personalization, and meaningful keepsakes that my mother shared with every customer who walked through her doors.

kimPrints Designs Today

Today, every kimPrints canvas begins with an original design I create digitally. Some are inspired by brand-new ideas, while others are thoughtfully reimagined from my design archives and adapted specifically for needlepoint. Many collections continue beyond the canvas into coordinating gifts, tabletop, home décor, accessories, and personalized keepsakes—allowing one story to be celebrated in many ways.

Travel remains one of my greatest inspirations. After years of exploring New England's most beloved coastal destinations through Shorelines Illustrated, I've come to believe that the places we love become part of our family's story. A favorite inn, a beach cottage, an annual vacation, a honeymoon, or a weekend by the sea can become just as meaningful as a wedding day or a baby's first Christmas. Those memories deserve to be celebrated, too.

Those are the stories I love to design.

Whether it's a canvas stitched for a nursery, a holiday tradition, a beloved destination, or a family milestone, my hope is that every kimPrints design becomes something that is loved, displayed, and cherished for generations.

Because that's what my mom taught me.

Beautiful things are even more meaningful when they become part of someone's story.
